World Wellness Weekend celebrated in 139 countries, including SA

The Canvas Aesthetics team

The 6th Annual World Wellness Weekend (WWW) took place from 16 to 18 September in 139 countries at 5,033 venues across the globe, with thousands of fun and free in-person activities and workshops offered by leading brands.

Joining spas and wellness centres in the WWW celebrations were beauty institutes, salons, integrative clinics, hotels, resorts, fitness clubs, sports associations and yoga and pilates centres.

Says WWW founder Jean-Guy De Gabriac: “Launched in 2017, WWW is a non-profit initiative that supports the UN SDGs 3 & 17 – Good Health & Well-being for All – to promote 5 Pillars of Wellness in daily life, namely Sleep, Nutrition, Sense of Purpose, Movement and Mindfulness.

“In just six years, WWW has become a planetary celebration showcasing cities and brands as Wellness Champions, through PR and social media to an audience of 16.5 million active wellness enthusiasts.”

De Garbriac notes that the most active spa brand globally was Jiva Spa, with 62 spas (including Jiva Spa at Taj Cape Town) offering a combined total of 76 activities throughout the weekend.

Canvas Aesthetics in Cape Town was another participating WWW property. Says owner/ founder Madelaine Colling: “Despite the challenges we’ve been experiencing with loadshedding, we managed to stay on course with our WWW celebrations throughout the weekend.

“WWW was established to inspire and empower people across the world to make healthier choices and enjoy longevity and purpose with friends and family. Canvas Aesthetics collaborates with registered health and wellness professionals in the industry to enable an integrated solution for our clients’ emotional, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing, so we were excited to be a catalyst of spreading WWW’s ‘Wellness For All’ and ‘Wellness By All’ messaging, helping people to become the best version of themselves.”

During WWW, approximately 50 plus Canvas Aesthetics guests experienced personal and one-on-one interaction with a variety of fun and exciting activities, whilst Platinum Gold On-line Radio broadcast live at the clinic, interviewing Jean-Guy De Gabriac on the Saturday morning. Guests experienced a variety of interactive, educational and wellness activities at no charge, received a goodie bag and stood a chance to win hampers full of free products, consultations and treatments.

The next edition of WWW will run on 15, 16 and 17 September 2023.
