Wellness Tourism Association to convene in Dominican Republic

Eden Roc

The 3rd Annual Meeting of the Wellness Tourism Association (WTA) will take place on 12 and 13 May in the Dominican Republic’s Eden Roc, Cap Cana in Punta Cana.

Launched in January 2018, the WTA is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated in the State of Colorado with close to a hundred Members and Partners from 15 countries around the world. The luxury Eden Roc, a Relais & Chateau resort, became a member of the WTA in September last year.

Says WTA president, Ann Dimon: “The WTA looks at wellness tourism as a specific division of the global tourism industry defined by the common goal of marketing natural assets and activities primarily focused on serving the wellness-minded traveler and those who want to be.

“Our inaugural meeting of members was held at Le Monastère des Augustine in Quebec City in 2018. Canyon Ranch, Tucson hosted our 2nd Annual Meeting in May of 2019. We'll be announcing highlights of the 2020 programme soon.”

Commenting on past WTA events, Muirgheal Montecalvo, CEO & founder, Vacayou Wellness & Active Travel states: “The WTA is leading the way in defining and education for the wellness tourism industry. The annual meeting provided our team with great learning and networking opportunities with like-minded people. We look forward to the 2020 event.”

Cindy Hoddeson, director North America, Monaco Government Tourist Office, adds: “Being part of an organisation that is shaping the future of wellness travel is exciting and meaningful. I was so pleased to spend time with a diverse and knowledgeable group in a beautiful setting at which we could learn and share with one another.”

Devon Combs, CEO, founder of Beyond the Arena, found that the WTA event provided a perfect blend of networking and education. “I met inspiring, like-minded people and gained valuable tools for expanding my wellness retreats. The connections I made have extended beyond the event and I’m excited to be collaborating with different WTA members. I cannot recommend attending this event enough."
