Updated: Jul 19, 2022

World Spa & Wellness Convention

The World Spa & Wellness Convention returns to Gallagher Convention Centre on 28 and 29 August 2022, after an absence of two years.

As has been the norm in the past, the World Spa & Wellness Convention will run alongside the Professional Beauty Johannesburg Expo, where the latest products and technologies in beauty, spa, nails and aesthetics will be on show.

Among the speakers confirmed for the World Spa & Wellness Convention are Kent Richards, the South Africa-born senior executive at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas Group, and Andrew Barge, an independent spa consultant who has previously worked for Marriott Group and Six Senses and who will join the convention via Zoom.

Other speakers are sales specialist, Shelley Walters; Lena Manamela (manager, Kievits Kroon Spa); Maria Viljoen (founder, Enviro Sanctuary Spa); Tania Pheiffer (owner, Woodlands Spa); Tanya Lopes (manager, Saxon Spa); sustainability guru Charne le Roux; digital marketing expert Aadil Dildar-Mia; Terrence Jansen van Vuuren (founder, Terenzo Suites); psychologist David Gonzalves; and Marisa Dimitriadis (The Spa Professionals Guild). More speakers are in the process of being confirmed.

As mental wellness is currently trending in the global spa and wellness sector, an entire session will be dedicated to this topic, with a psychologist addressing mental wellness in staff and a soon-to-confirmed expert speaking on how a mental wellness aspect can be introduced into the spa treatment menu offering.

Other topics include: top trends in the international market; the role of metaverse in social media marketing; unique treatments that make your spa stand out; how to ramp up your retail sales; what spas around the world are doing in terms of sustainable practices; and identifying strategic opportunities and growth for new and existing guests, products and services.
