Time to get competitive at Professional Beauty Johannesburg


Nail and make-up competitions will take place at Professional Beauty’s annual flagship Johannesburg Expo, which runs on 3 & 4 September at Gallagher Convention Centre.


Professional Beauty Johannesburg is Africa’s premier trade show for the beauty,

skincare, nails, spa and advanced treatment sectors, and includes Business Seminars and a Live Stage, as well as the World Spa & Wellness Convention. Click here to pre-register for free for the Expo.


The NAIL COMPETITION comprises two different segments – the first is the Live

Competition, which takes place on Sunday, 3 September at the Expo and includes the following categories:

Gel – Gel polish creation using the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year, Viva

Magenta 18-1750

Tip Overlay – Gel and Acrylic Combined: Novice

Tip Overlay – Gel and Acrylic Combined: Intermediate

Master Sculpting – Gel and Acrylic Combined: Advanced

Two Non-Live categories are also included in the Nail Competition – namely Tip Box

and Photographic. Both are Mixed Media, with the theme for Tip Box being ‘Steam

Punk’ and the theme for Photographic being ‘Hollywood’. Entries for these two

categories must be delivered in advance to Professional Beauty’s offices in Ferndale,

Randburg. All entries will be displayed at Professional Beauty Johannesburg and

winners are to be announced during the Nail Competition Prize Giving Ceremony on the afternoon of 3 September.

Professional Beauty will host the LIVING CANVAS MAKE-UP COMPETITION, taking

place on both days of the Expo. Living Canvas is a Competitor platform that gives artists from all over South Africa the chance to showcase their art, learn new skills, meet new artists and grow artistically. The Competition covers all the art forms such as creative make-up, special effects, body and face painting.
