Strong eyeliner trends on Cannes Red Carpet

There is no film festival on the international annual calendar that has more cachet than Cannes and its red carpet is always a hotbed of make-up trends.

Several stars were seen rocking strong eyeliner on both upper and lower lids, such as on Canadian supermodel Winnie Harlow, who went one step further with a graphic cat’s eye.

Actress of the moment, Julia Garner, also made a statement for strong eyeliner, which was fabulously set off by icy-toned shadow and pale lips. Johnny Depp’s model daughter, Lily Rose Depp, sported a similar look, albeit with smokier eyes.

Dua Lipa @dualipa

British singer and ‘it girl’, Dua Lipa, also went the strong eyeliner route, although you had to peer behind her intrusive, cheek-length gelled bangs to ascertain it.

Fellow Brit, actress Gemma Chan, looked stunning with her fully lined eyes.

Sabrina Elba @sabrinaelba

Idris Elba’s wife, model Sabrina Dhowre, wore subtly lined eyes and dazzling silver shadow to match her sparkly dress.

Making the case for strong red lips and pale everything else were Scarlett Johansson and model Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

Blonde Swedish model Elsa Hosk looked exactly like a Barbie Doll, what with heavy upper lashes, loads of blue eyeshadow and pouty nude lips outlined in a darker hue. And yes, she did wear a crazy ‘double bustier’ corset dress. (Report by Joanna Sterkowicz)
