As part of its 50-year celebration, SAAHSP (South African Association of Health and Skincare Professionals) offered to sponsor part of the student examination fees of 61 candidates.

All SAAHSP / CIDESCO registered and accredited training providers were involved, with a total of 22 training providers receiving one candidate fee worth R3,000. The additional candidates were awarded based on the number of student exam registrations of the training providers. This means that for every 10 students registered, an additional candidate was awarded R3,000, bringing the total value of SAAHSP sponsorships to R18,300.

Says SAAHSP executive director and professional body administrator: “Training institutions that are SAAHSP members allocated the funds to deserving candidates of their choice. These candidates varied from top performers to those struggling financially.

“It is due to the continued support of our training providers that we are able to give back to these deserving candidates. SAAHSP hopes that this initiative can take place annually and become a successful bursary programme.”

Theron emphasises that the SAAHSP board of directors strives to serve its members by adhering to the SAAHSP vision and mission to foster the advancement of education and professionalism in the health and skincare industry. (Report by Joanna Sterkowicz)
