Rolene Joubert wins Calgel’s annual nail art competition

‘Bring the bling’ was the theme for this year’s Calgel annual nail art competition, to be created with any gel medium.

Says Calgel’s Elaine Timcke: “The theme was open to the nail technician’s own creative interpretation. Any nail technician residing in South Africa was eligible for entry.

“We received so many wonderful entries that it was difficult to choose the Top 5. In fact, we ended up with a final Top 7, which was posted to our Facebook page for voting. The entry with the most votes was Rolene Joubert from Petit Paris Nails & Beauty.”

The winning entry

Joubert’s winning entry incorporated the Barbiecore trend that has been sweeping the world thanks to the recent release of the live action ‘Barbie’ movie.

The prize-giving ceremony took place on 3 September at Professional Beauty Johannesburg at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

Joubert won a Calgel hamper worth R3,000 filled with Calgel nail art gels and supplies.

Runner-up was Alicia Scrooby from Licha’s nails, for ‘her gorgeous denim and diamond design’.

3rd place went to Nadia Deysel from Thabazimbi with ‘a beautiful swan design’.
