Restraint agreements for staff – are they a good idea?

A common dynamic in the industry is that of therapists leaving your employ and taking their clients with them.

This is particularly painful for owners who have spent considerable time, effort and money nurturing and training their therapists.

One way of trying to prevent this problem is to make therapists sign a restraint of trade agreement. However, such an agreement has to be clearly explained and agreed upon by both parties before commencement at work.

The process also involves ascertaining a reasonable radius around your salon that the departing staffer is prohibited from working in.
