Relax Luxury Spa Group founder Noli Mini and industry veteran, Feroza Fakir, are the 2023 Global Wellness Day (GWD) Ambassadors for South Africa.
Mini is the Ambassador for Western, Northern and Eastern Cape, while Fakir will serve Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KZN, North West and Free State
This year GWD takes place on 10 June and was founded by Turkish spa operator, Belgin Aksoy, back in 2012. This entirely non-profit initiative is dedicated to the concept of ‘living well’ and is celebrated each year around the world on the second Saturday of June, across hundreds of venues in dozens of countries and cities. Spa, wellness and fitness professionals are encouraged to organise free-of-charge wellness activities for the public on this day.
Says Mini: “As I have a passion for health and wellbeing, the GWD Ambassadorship gives me a platform to further promote healthy lifestyle choices and overall wellness, as well as foster a healthy culture within our communities and businesses at large.
“With my GWD nomination, I want to extend the reach to all industries in an effort to educate people across the board on how diverse and easy investing in wellness for oneself is. The 7 Pillars of GWD resonate with my wellness philosophy; it is as simple as starting each day with a 10-minute meditation to centre oneself before embarking on each day.”
Mini, the recipient of numerous business awards, is ‘the Modern SpaPreneur,’ and has over 21 years of experience in the beauty and hotel spa industry. She has partnered with the Relate Trust NPO to help those from disadvantaged backgrounds create better lives for themselves. Mini is passionate about the spa business and about inspiring young up and coming leaders in the hospitality industry to be the best version of themselves in their chosen spheres.
Fakir, who looks forward to spreading the GWD message far and wide in her designated GWD regions, is well-known for having served the beauty industry for decades, most notably in the tertiary education sphere. She is currently on the SAAHSP Professional Body board as QAP director and Services SETA representative. (Report by Joanna Sterkowicz)
