Nails did not take centre stage at the CFDA Awards

Khloe Kardashian @khloekardashian

Not surprisingly, clothes were the main focus at the recent CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards, with nails taking a bit of a back seat.

Stilettos and short nails, mostly in pale and nude shades, were the main order of the day at this event held in New York City, which celebrates the best and brightest talents in American fashion.

Leading the pack in terms of stiletto nails was reality star, Khloe Kardashian, who is rarely seen without claws. Her talons in this instance were particularly long and in a flattering nude shade. Big sister Kim, who has never really been that big on nails, also had a set of nude nails, although considerably shorter, almond-shaped and less claw-like.

Kylie Jenner @kyliejenner

Kardashian half-sister, Kylie Jenner’s long pale stilettos didn’t draw too much attention away from her complex vintage Thierry Mugler asymmetrical gown.

Perennial music legend Cher also sported lengthy pale stilettos to offset her black leather biker jacket style gown.

Actress Christina Ricci wore short, ‘barely there’ nails, as did ‘Law & Order SVU’ star, Mariska Hargitay.

Vanessa Hudgens @vanessahudgens

There were the handful of stars who opted for black nails. Zoey Deutch wore shortish black nails to match her shortish black dress, while Vanessa Hudgens went all Morticia Adams with her lengthy talons.

Natasha Lyonne @nlyonne

CFDA Awards host for the evening, Natasha Lyonne, had medium length, almond shaped black nails, while La La Anthony’s nails were very long and square, in a French manicure with black tips.

Some celebs chose to wear short red nails. A prime example was Katie Holmes, whose nails contrasted with her silver crystal cage dress. Also going the short red nail look were Mimi So and Randi Molofsky. One of the few men on the red carpet rocking a colour manicure was Carlos Nazario – again in red.

Anok Yai @anokyai

Sporting an unusual colour on this particular red carpet was Anok Yai, whose pale orange stilettos contrasted with her strikingly minimalist dark gown and statement gold jewellery. (Report by Joanna Sterkowicz)
