International nail artist to speak at SAAHSP Nail Summit
Updated: May 27, 2020
Award-winning, Netherlands-based, South African born nail artist and educator, Tracey Lee, will present a live Skype session at the SAAHSP Nail Summt, which takes place at Johannesburg’s Bryanston Country Club on Monday, 29 July.
Lee, who won Season Four of Nails Magazine’s global Next Top Nail Artist competition, is the director of Beauty2trs, an online nail and beauty education platform. Her live Skype presentation at the SAAHSP Nail Summit is called, ‘Knowledge is Power – Do you think you know it all?
Says Lee: “With the nail industry constantly evolving, it is vitally important for nail professionals to keep up to date with the latest in technology, product innovation, education, information and skills. However, it’s all good and well keeping up to date with the latest technology, but to what extent?
“On our journey to find the next trending technique or to find perfection in structure, in our excitement we often forget the fundamentals – the health of the natural nail, the well-being of the client. We are bombarded with knowledge, information, innovation via social media and it is the best tool we could ever have wished for in terms of transfer of knowledge. Now we need to find the balance between fact and faux!”
SAAHSP, the Professional Body for the Skin, Body and Nail Care Industry, is convening the Nail Summit as a means of creating positive changes and uplifting the standards of the nail industry.
Says Sonette van Rensburg, director of the Nail Professionals Profile on the SAAHSP board: “Issues of serious concern to the industry include inadequate and unrecognised training that leads to hygiene and sanitation lapses, misguided information, performing of unsafe and improper practices and not following COPs (Codes of Practice) and ethics.
“The Nail Summit will be an open forum and platform for delegates to be educated and informed, with top speakers and experts in their field addressing the above issues and proposing solutions.”
Cost per delegate at the Nail Summit, which runs from 9am to 4pm on 29 July, is R275.
