Industry turns out for Professional Beauty Johannesburg

Updated: May 27, 2020

A brand new venue, as well as the introduction of a Skincare Lounge, contributed to the success of the Professional Beauty Johannesburg Expo, which took place at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on 1 & 2 September.

The largest trade event of its kind in Africa, Professional Beauty Johannesburg saw thousands of industry professionals visit the show to be exposed to over 200 top brands in the beauty, skincare, nails, make-up, body care, hair care and aesthetic device sectors.

Running alongside Professional Beauty Johannesburg were several satellite events, including Salon International (the hair industry’s biggest expo which incorporated the EOHCB Hair Competition); the World Spa & Wellness Africa Convention; the Aesthetic Medicine Convention, the Business Seminar Programme, the Annual Professional Beauty Nail Competition; and the Nail Workshop.

Says Phil Woods, commercial director of T.E. Trade Events, the owner of Professional Beauty: “The Professional Beauty and Salon international Exhibitions were a fantastic success. We were delighted that the move to halls 4 and 5 at Gallagher Convention Centre were well received. The freshness that the transition created appeared to induce some meaningful business for all.

“In addition, the inclusion of the Skincare Lounge area proved to be very well received, as did the overall increase in business in the retail area. We are planning some additional new initiatives for next year and look forward to a very positive year ahead.”

In keeping with the strictly trade focus of the event, T.E. Trade Events conducted an in-depth vetting process in the run-up to the event to ensure that all those who registered to attend the show were indeed industry professionals and not consumers.

Says Vick Maharaj of Marshalls Traditional Healthcare: “The change in venue certainly seems to have made a difference. Furthermore, the improved quality of visitors also made a difference to our sales.”

Kanika Olivier of Hitech Lasers adds: “I want to compliment the Professional Beauty team for the way the show was handled. I have been in sales for more than 20 years and have attended more of congresses/ shows/ conferences than I care to remember and this was definitely one of the better ones.

“I was very impressed with the layout and the way everything seemed to go off without a hitch. We had good attendance at our stand.”

T.E. Trade Events is currently calling for entries into the 2020 Professional Beauty Awards & Industry Awards. To find out more log on to https://www.probeauty.co.za/copy-of-pb-awards-2020
