GWI urges world to replace fear with wellness focus

The non-profit GWI (Global Wellness Institute) has launched the PositivelyWell movement in an effort to temper concerns about the coronavirus and other diseases with a message of wellness and health.

GWI was founded to empower wellness worldwide by educating the public and private sectors about the benefits of preventative health and wellness.

“We believe this is the ideal time to encourage family, friends and colleagues to focus on building a strong immune system through exercise, healthy nutrition, stress reduction, smoking cessation, optimism and more. These are the very things that the GWI represents.

“Please support this movement by sharing on your social media platforms and tag us with #PositivelyWell,” say the GWI team.

Susie Ellis, CEO and chairperson of the GWI and the GWS (Global Wellness Summit), adds: “In the midst of worries about the global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, it can be easy to slip into fears about the unknown and concerns about the suffering a global health crisis could cause. In fact, at times, it seems that fear surrounds us, fueled by the media and fed by our natural desire to protect our family and communities.

“However, I think it’s important for the wellness industry to consider that this is also a time for hope and optimism. This is the exact moment to recognise that we have control over our health destinies. We don’t have to give in to fear; we simply need to commit to wellness in our own lives and the lives of those in our homes and communities.”
