CIDESCO launches spa & salon sustainability guide

The World Standard for Beauty & Spa Therapy, CIDESCO, has created a set of guidelines to help salons and spas implement sustainable practices.
Compiled by Erika Ferreira, the CIDESCO Sustainability Guide for Spas & Salons represents a bid by the international educational organisation to make both the wellness and beauty sectors more sustainable.
CIDESCO president Karin Lupgens is quoted on spabusiness.com as saying that the guide has been introduced to encourage more spas and salons to reduce their environmental impact for the benefit of all.
The Guide includes the principles of sustainability incorporating energy, waste management, water usage, product choices and education.
CIDESCO has also included advice from members who are undertaking their own sustainability campaigns.
Lupgens concludes: “As Sir David Attenborough says: ‘The future of humanity and indeed, all life on earth, now depends on us. Sustainability is no longer a choice, it’s a necessity. Let’s all do our part!’”.
