Forrester notes that Champneys is a very prestigious spa brand in the UK that has been in existence since 1925. “There is no comparable spa group in South Africa.
Champneys has a huge focus on wellness and well-being. I would describe their spas as being health hydros on steroids, but will all the bells & whistles as well. This spa group is popular with football stars and movie stars. The late Princess Diana was also a fan.”
Champneys has spa properties in Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Kent, Chesire, St Albans, London and Milton Keynes.
“There is a shortage of qualified spa staff in the UK and Champneys is very aware of the high standard of outh African therapists,” continues Forrester. “Our therapists are highly sought after due the quality and advanced nature of our qualifications.”
The minimum qualification criteria for the Champneys recruitment is the UK NQF Level 3 in Beauty Therapy, which is equivalent to the South African NQF Level 2.
Successful candidates will need to obtain a Skilled Worker Visa (which is provided by Champneys as they are a licenced Sponsor). South Africans who also have a British passport will obviously have easier access to work in the UK.
“This is a phenomenal brand to be associated with. They have already recruited several South Africans, not only therapists but fitness professionals and chefs as well. Champneys’ senior management and directors will be in Cape Town during the week of 6 March for face-to-face interviews,” explains Forrester.
Apart from the educational qualifications mentioned above, Champneys is looking for the following qualities in their therapists:
Well-spoken and fluent in English
Exceptionally well-groomed
High level of personal health, wellness and fitness
Very customer-oriented as they will be expected to deliver a 5-star service all the way
The ability to work well in a team environment
Confidence in your field
Product knowledge is imperative
Passionate about your profession
Willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays
The ability to treat all spa guests exactly the same, regardless of whether they are celebrities or general members of the public
Therapists need not live in Cape Town to be considered, we recruit nationally across South Africa and successful applications will be invited for a preliminary Zoom interview followed by a practical assessment where possible, before embarking on this prestigious adventure.
