Can the powder format for cosmetics prove more sustainable?

Premium Beauty News reports that some cosmetics brands are making products such as cleansers and scrubs in powder form.
The reasoning behind this is that powder cosmetics contain zero water and are thus more sustainable. Consumers of such products would themselves add whatever water is needed for the product’s functionality.
Among the brands manufacturing numerous powder cosmetic products are Yanne Wellness, Tatcha, Yodi, Eyden and Perlucine.
Even luxury houses such as Dior are going the powder formulation route.
As Premium Beauty News reports, some brands are creating solid cosmetics that turn into a liquid when water is added.
