Big SA participation mobilises for World Wellness Weekend

Fifty South African venues to date have signed on to participate in this year’s World Wellness Weekend (WWW), which takes place globally on the 15th, 16th and 17th of September.

Some 150 countries are expected to join in this, the 7th annual edition of WWW. Founded by Jean-Guy de Gabriac, WWW is a non-profit initiative that is aligned with the United Nations (Good Health and Wellbeing for All) and sees professionals working in the spa, beauty, hospitality, fitness and tourism sectors offering fun and free activities to the public in order to promote a healthy lifestyle. Wellness is defined by De Gabriac as ‘the responsible relationship between your body and yourself”.

WWW South Africa Country Ambassadors and spa professionals, Marisa Dimitriadis and Francisco Garcia, have been actively promoting the event over the past few months and expect many more properties to sign up in the coming weeks.

Among the South African properties confirmed to participate in WWW are the Winelands Spa @ Kievits Kroon Gauteng Wine Estate, which will be hosting yoga on the lawn under the trees, as well as offering therapeutic colouring in for WWW guests.

Grotto Spa is planning a VR (Virtual Reality) meditation session that will include a psychedelic tea experience.

J Wellness Circle will offer Mandala painting, yoga and reading experiences.

Nia Meditation dance and movement for the 5 senses and meditation will be offered by Thai Sabai.

Indulgence Beauty Boutique will host Zumba Fitness Class with DJ Ziggy and provide breakfast and goodie bags.

Seasons Spa is to do an extra 15 minutes for all treatments and offer a complimentary breathing and meditation session for all guests.

Other participating properties include Asher Spa, Mount Grace Hotel & Spa, Alveston Manor Boutique Hotel & Spa, Azure Aesthetics & Beauty, and Dolce Vita Beauty Centre.
