The 11th annual Global Wellness Day (GWD), held on 11 June 2022, saw thousands of free in-person activities, workshops and talks across the globe incorporating the theme, #ThinkMagenta.
This year’s event followed 2021’s 12-hour free livestream celebration in the face of the pandemic.
Says Emmy Stoltz, South Africa’s GWD Ambassaor: “For so many years, GWD has been
inspiring a philosophy and lifestyle that lasts a lifetime, reminding people around the world about the value of taking care of their physical, mental and spiritual health with the slogan, ‘One day can change your whole life’.”
Stoltz notes that GWD 2022 was very fortunate to have a whole spate of spas, hotels and other companies in South Africa and Namibia joining in the celebration.
These included: Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa, Johannesburg; Amani Spa, Cape Town; Relax Spas, Cape Town; Guvon Spas, Johannesburg; The Fairway Spa; Glenburn Lodge & Spa; Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa; Fordoun Hotel & Spa, KZN Midlands; Senses Spa & Salon, KZN; Thalgo South Africa; The Green School, Johannesburg; Africology Spa; The Drostdy Hotel; Remind Wellness (Almarie Venter); Oukolele Day Spa (Namibia); Dee’s African Day Spa; Views Boutique Hotel & Spa; Camelot Spa - Table Bay Hotel; MatsiMela Spa South Africa; Annemarie Gahler – Vegan Food Consultant; and Isa Carstens Academy.
GWD 2022 also hosted the Wellness Food Around the World Competition, in which South Africa won the Best Dish for Middle East & Africa with its Rooibos Lentil Babotie. The e-recipe book can be downloaded from
Next year’s GWD celebration will take place on 10 June 2022.
