Professional Beauty hosts successful Cape Town Expo

Some 813 industry professionals attended the Professional Beauty Cape Town Expo on 5 March at CITCC 2.

The event included an exhibition of many leading beauty, nails and aesthetics brands, as well as a business seminar programme and a live stage with demos.

In terms of exhibitor feedback, Rohan Pretorius of Radiant Healthcare had this say: “The show was really amazing! Quality leads, a good flow of visitors to the stand and a lot of interest was generated in our systems and devices. Having the opportunity to do a talk on our skin analysis device was also a big help towards generating those leads. We will be back next year! ”

Clarissa Vermeer of RefectoCil commented: “We had a great show! Once we had performed our first demo on the treatment bed, it was non-stop for the rest of the day. Sales were continuous, and our stage performance directed even more traffic to our stand.

“I think the show was so successful for us due to the combination of sales, demos, stage performance and a lucky draw. We generated sale leads and training connections and overall, visitors to the stand spent a long time with us to fully understand the different products and how to apply them.”

Elaine Timcke of Calgel added: “The quality of visitor at the show was good and the flow of visitors to our stand increased throughout most of the day. There were definitely more people at the show than we expected and we did generate some leads.”

Diana van Sittert of Hands Down reported that the show exceeded her expectations. “We did get leads and sales. Most of the buyers were current customers. I was very impressed with the business seminar attendance numbers.”

The team at Heal Spa had a really good show and has already booked a stand for the Professional Beauty Johannesburg Expo in early September. Sani-Touch reported that it came to the show to test the Cape Town market and found that it exceeded expectations. Among the other exhibitors who had a favourable experience at the show were iTouch, Zena Cosmetics, InLei, DoPro Healthcare Solutions and the EOHCB (Employers’ Organisation for Hairdressing, Cosmetology & Beauty).

Commented Jacoline Wentzel of The Spa Warehouse: “I was so happy to see that the show turned out to be so positive. Thank you to the Professional Beauty team for bringing the Cape industry together.”

The SunSkin team added: “It was a great show!”

Yolanda Knott, managing director of Professional Beauty had this to say: “Overall it was a phenomenal show and well received by the industry. Judging from the full-on attendance at the business seminars, it was evident that there is a big need for education of this kind in the Cape Town industry.”

One of the most popular sessions at the business seminar programme was – “How to keep your finances in check, debt management, accounting and payroll”. Said a seminar delegate: “If I hadn’t attended this session, I wouldn’t have known the difference between mark-up and profit margin and would have lost money as a result. Sessions like this that focus on salon finances are invaluable.”

As for the Live Stage programme, a session that attracted a huge amount of interest was Dr Fawzia Sale’s demonstration of advanced lip treatments, with many show visitors saying they wanted to add this treatment to their menus.

The next Professional Beauty Expo is the flagship Johannesburg event that will take place at Gallagher Convention Centre on the 3rd and 4th of September this year. Watch this space!
