Ispa announces spa workforce study 1 November 2017   The International Spa Association (Ispa) has announced the launch of an industry workforce study to analyse the recruitment, retention and engagement of professionals in the spa sector. This the first research of this kind to be undertaken for Ispa and was announced at the recent Ispa Conference & Expo, held in Las Vegas. Spa president Lynne McNees said: “This workforce study will provide valuable insight into what motivates and influences employees within the spa industry. Assisting spas in filling vacancies and nurturing future spa professionals is a top priority for Ispa.” According to the Ispa 2017 US Spa Industry Study, there are currently around 33,000 available positions in the American spa sector. Of these vacancies, just over half (18,780) are for massage therapists. The results of the spa workforce study will be presented next year, at the 2018 Ispa Conference.
